Emirates Development Bank Reaches Dh30 Billion Milestone in Industrial Financing
Emirates Development Bank Reaches Dh30 Billion Financing Milestone, Supporting UAE’s Industrial Growth
Emirates Development Bank (EDB) has approved more than Dh30 billion in cumulative financing since 2021, reaching the five-year target set under its mandate and reinforcing its role in supporting the UAE’s economic diversification and industrial development agenda.
The milestone highlights EDB’s growing role as a financial partner for businesses operating in sectors considered strategically important to the UAE economy, including manufacturing, renewable energy, advanced technology, healthcare and food security.
The bank said its financing has been directed towards projects that expand productive capacity, strengthen domestic supply chains and support UAE-based companies in developing their operations and competing in both local and international markets.
“Reaching this milestone reflects the confidence that businesses place in EDB as a partner for growth and industrial development. Our focus is on financing projects that create productive capacity, deepen local value chains and help UAE-based businesses compete at home and internationally. As we build on this progress, we will continue to direct capital towards the sectors that are most important to the country’s long-term resilience and competitiveness.”

Financing More Than 1,000 Companies
Since 2021, EDB has supported more than 1,000 companies across its five priority sectors: manufacturing, renewable energy, advanced technology, healthcare and food security.
Manufacturing has accounted for the largest share of the bank’s financing approvals, reflecting the sector’s importance to the UAE’s efforts to strengthen domestic industrial capabilities and develop a more diversified economy.
Through its financing activities, EDB is supporting businesses seeking to increase production, establish new facilities, adopt advanced technologies and develop stronger local supply chains.
The bank’s financing is also aligned with broader national priorities focused on increasing the contribution of industry to the UAE economy and encouraging investment in strategic sectors.
Dh14 Billion Contribution to Industrial GDP
According to EDB’s impact data, the bank’s financing has contributed more than Dh14 billion to industrial GDP and supported over 50,000 industrial jobs.
Its financing has also helped mobilise approximately Dh70 billion in industrial capital expenditure, supporting investments in production facilities, equipment, technologies and other industrial infrastructure.
The bank said businesses supported through its financing programmes have also attracted more than Dh9 billion in foreign investment, helping facilitate the establishment and expansion of industrial and advanced-production activities in the UAE.
These figures highlight the broader economic impact of EDB’s financing beyond the value of loans and approvals, particularly through investment, employment creation, production capacity and supply-chain development.
Strengthening UAE Supply Chains
A key focus of EDB’s financing strategy is strengthening local value chains and increasing domestic production capabilities.
Funding has enabled companies to expand manufacturing capacity, invest in new facilities and technologies, develop locally based supply networks and produce goods for both the UAE market and international customers.
The approach supports the UAE’s broader industrial ambitions by helping businesses scale their operations while reducing gaps in strategic supply chains and encouraging greater participation from domestic companies.
For manufacturers and other businesses operating in strategic sectors, access to appropriate financing can play an important role in moving from initial investment to commercial-scale production.
Supporting Economic Diversification
EDB’s Dh30 billion financing milestone comes as the UAE continues to place economic diversification, industrial development and technology-led growth at the centre of its long-term economic strategy.
The bank’s five priority sectors are closely connected to these objectives. Manufacturing contributes to industrial capacity, renewable energy supports the transition toward cleaner energy systems, advanced technology strengthens innovation capabilities, healthcare supports critical infrastructure, while food security remains an important component of national resilience.
By directing capital towards these areas, EDB aims to support businesses that can contribute to long-term economic growth while building productive capacity within the country.
Expanding the Role of Development Finance
The Dh30 billion milestone also underlines the role of development-focused finance in supporting businesses that require capital to scale, modernise operations and enter new markets.
For EDB, the focus extends beyond financing individual companies to supporting projects that can generate wider economic activity through employment, investment, industrial output and supply-chain development.
With more than 1,000 companies supported since 2021, the bank is continuing to expand its contribution to the UAE’s industrial and economic diversification priorities.
As the UAE advances its long-term economic transformation agenda, EDB is expected to remain focused on directing capital towards strategic sectors, enabling businesses to expand their capabilities and supporting the development of a more competitive and resilient industrial economy.
